April, reasonably busy

Not quite as busy with physical activities, but I’ve been hitting the social media hard.

Friday the 4th: Carley and I had a live interview with Michelle from Phoenix FM in Brentwood where we discussed our plans for the author event on 12th of July. Listen to it here:

Saturday 5th: Carley and I visited The Brentwood writer’s Circle. We haven’t been for a while and it was nice to see familiar faces, particularly as I have published 2 more books since the last time I was there. “Karla’s Story” is the first in the 9 part Branford Chronicles series set in the fictional Essex town of Branford and follows the character arc of a female detective. However, the cover of the book is proving to be a bit marmite: people either love it or hate it. The other book is “Abbey” a self-published vampire horror, inspired by a trip to Whitby last year.

Wednesday 9th” I visited the Leigh Community centre and did a 20 minute reading from my books ‘The Twinmere Beast’ and ‘Abbey’. Mine was the only prose there as all the others read poetry, but It was appreciated and I generated a lot of interest in my books and sold a couple.

Saturday 12th: Back in Chelmsford market with Carley. Not such a great day as there were events going on throughout the town that drew people away from the market. I still managed to sell. What was significant was that Carley’s 14 year-old son was present showcasing ‘Dragos and Mages’ the book he co-wrote with his mother.

Thursday 17th. I was somewhere in England (I’m not allowed to say where) preparing equipment for British heavy metal band Iron Maiden.

24th to the 26th: I had the pleasure of visiting Whitby again, this time for the bi-annual Goth weekend where I was able to promote my horror/suspense books: “Perfect Strangers”, “The Story – Be careful What You Read”, “The Twinmere Beast” and my latest, “Abbey”, a significant amount of which is set in Whitby. And yes, I did dress up.

Though being in Whitby meant I couldn’t do an official on-the-day book launch of the second in the Branford Chronicles series, “The Burning” which was released on the 25th. It also mean that I wasn’t able to be at the Braintree Artisan market, which is a shame as it’s always quite productive for me. AM author Aki McKenzi took my place alongside Carley-Ann Osborn.

Carley and I made plans for a book tour to take place in May.

And all this was fitted in around my work.
