A very busy month. Carley-Ann Osborn and I embarked on a
mini book tour around Essex.
Saturday May 3rd Firstsite in Colchester organised by Folk & Bespoke. This
is an artisan market and there was a slow start to the day with all traders
wondering were everyone was. It picked up though and I was able to sell more
books than I was expecting.
Saturday May 10th Leigh-on-Sea community centre with Carley. This was another
Folk & Bespoke event where we were able to sell our books.
Sunday May 11th Upminster New Windmill hall. Carley was not able to do this
one, so I was there with my friend and fellow AM author Aki McKenzi. We both
sold books with Aki doing well, selling copies of their debut novel ‘Edge of
Empire: World's End: The Legacy of the Neo Warriors.’ I will be doing a video
interview with Aki on the 15th of June.
Friday 16th I, along with Carley-Ann Osborn, visited Lyons Hall primary school
in Braintree, Essex, to announce the four winners of the writing competition.
All were girls, and the level of imagination displayed was astonishing and a
credit to the school. Later in the day I recorded the first in my video series.
I interviewed Carley, focusing on her children’s story “The Cute Newt” that she
wrote and illustrated. Click this link, or copy and paste it into your browser

Saturday 17th Ware Drill Hall in Hertfordshire. Once again a Folk and Bespoke
event. We both did quite well selling our books.
Saturday 24th Chelmsford Market. Carley was unable to attend so I was joined by
my friend and children’s author Sam Scott. I was another successful day, except
for the strange man who claimed to be a 100 years old and an A300 pilot who was
going to give me a million pounds.
Sunday 25th Dunmow Foakes Hall with Carley. Not such a great day,
heavy rain to start with and the Dunmow soap box derby kept visitors away. Very
poor sales for everyone.
Tuesday 27th played a couple of songs with my good fried John.
Friday 30th I did the second of my video interviews, this time with Sarah J
Banham, an author of fiction and a rather good writing guide: The Guide to
Creative Writing. This is the book that all new and aspiring authors should
have. See the interview here:

Saturday 31st Braintree artisan market with Carley. A very good day to finish
our short book tour. We both had good sales with quite a few repeat customers
buying new books and being very complimentary about the ones they had read.
Again, all this was fitted in around my work, this time supervising a corporate
event at Charlton Athletic Football Ground (in reality this just involved
turning on radio mics and handing them over – not the most taxing day) Then I
was in a warehouse somewhere in England preparing audio equipment for British
band Squeeze, and ex -Frankie goes to Hollywood singer Holly Johnson.
