Craft fairs and interesting people

Since mid 2024, I, along with fellow Austin Macauley author Carley-Ann Osborn have been having stalls at local markets. On two occasions we have been joined by another AM author, Aki McKenzi. Sales have been good with interest generated in our diverse genres. Saturday 1st of September was different though. I was all on my own at Firstsite in Colchester, this is an arts centre and had been hired for a craft fair by the good people at Folk and Bespoke.

I believe I was the only author there, but to be honest, I was so busy talking to people that I didn’t have time to look around. A steady stream of people passed through the fair and most stopped to chat. There was a great deal of interest in my books, and it was clear from reactions that this was because of the different genres that I write in. One person wasn’t sure which one to buy, so he bought one of each!

This was my first time at Colchester; next week, on the 8th February, I’ll be back in Braintree at the Artisan Market, this time with Carley-Ann Osborn. The Braintree market has been particularly good for us with steady sales, and as with Colchester, a lot of interest in our books. After that, on the following Saturday, the 15th, we will both be back at Chelmsford market. This time we’ll be once again joined by the ever-exuberant Aki McKenzi.
