Tony Vaughan recently shared his thoughtful and vivid
reflection on The Twinmere Beast:
“Superb story telling. Very economical style where every
word counts which is so refreshing in today's bloated books. The beast is never
explained; it just is, which I like. The story moves along at breakneck speed
without sacrificing essential detail. As someone who knows Essex / Suffolk
coastline well, I could picture the places and scenes. The book finishes
without a resolution; again something I enjoy in certain stories and what
happens next is very much up to your imagination. I would very much welcome a
sequel or story within the world the author has built. The highest compliment I
can pay this book is that it would make a great modern Hammer horror film.
Highly recommended.”
Reading Tony’s review genuinely means a great deal to me.
It’s incredibly rewarding to hear that the simplicity of the style and the pace
of the story resonated so strongly. I’ve always believed that sometimes what is
left unsaid can be just as powerful, so knowing the mystery of the beast and
the open ending connected with a reader is really special. And the thought of
it as a modern Hammer horror… I couldn’t ask for a finer compliment. I’m truly
grateful for such a generous and thoughtful reflection.
